Swift Design Showcase

As part of the design phase of the hackathon, teams will present their inclusive app solutions through a 3-minute presentation and receive feedback from guest speakers from SUTD and SAVH. We will also be showcasing innovative iOS app designs by upcoming young secondary school coders. The showcase will be happening on 22 January 2022 from 1 to 3 PM via Zoom.

Guest Speakers

Mr Chong Kwek Bin

Head of Advocacy, Communications, Employment & Training at Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped

Kwek Bin is staff at Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH), where, among other things, he teaches the use of iPhones to users with visual impairment, and also talks to various groups and individuals looking to develop solutions or otherwise make a positive impact on the lives of the visually impaired. Kwek Bin is visually impaired himself and a user of the same technology that he teaches, and has given numerous presentations, formal or informal, on various aspects of visual impairment, challenges, and what might be done to help with these challenges.

Mr William Siew

Founder of Spark-a-life, SUTD PhD Student, Master of Engineering in Innovation by Design

William's passion for research involves technology, transportation, dementia and ageing issues. He is inspired to address design challenges related to community care, health and wellness, as well as intergenerational initiatives. William is currently spearheading the Spark-a-life virtual seminar, learning programme and hackathon for undergraduate and graduate students. He is also involved in planning and teaching of Secondary Schools/JC students with the aim to educate design thinking to youths and find opportunities for them to co-create with SUTD students and other communities.
